Hello, my name is Pat Brennan and I live in North East England. I have visited Uganda on many occasions and met many different people there. As you can see from this revised website, our Montfort missionary priest friend, Fr Charlie, is now back living and working in Malawi, where he was originally from about 1981 until 1990. With the help of family, friends and also parishioners in my parish of Our Lady and St Columba, Wallsend, we raise awareness and funds to help support the many different projects in both Uganda and now also in Malawi. Please find out more on my Uganda Projects and Life in Malawi pages.
After leaving primary school in Wallsend, North East England, I joined the Montfort Missionaries Junior Seminary in Hampshire, England. From there, I progressed to the Montfortian Novitiate close to the Junior Seminary. Halfway through my Novitiate, I came back home, leaving my Montfortian vocation behind, then after a few quite unimportant jobs, I trained to be a teacher. I taught in three different primary schools in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, including being deputy headteacher for over sixteen years and headteacher during one academic year. I took premature retirement due to sickness. I then taught in various educational settings, teaching adults part-time.
I have always remained in touch with Montfort Missionaries and approximately fifteen years ago, made contact with a close friend, Fr Charlie Beirne from Leeds, England. After being in Malawi for almost ten years, Charlie moved to a new pastoral position in Mbarara, South West Uganda, where he was for about twenty six years. My family and I have been sponsoring children in Uganda for about fifteen years through Charlie. I also have many friends/associates, who sponsor children through me. I am also involved with other charitable projects in Uganda and now also Malawi. Please find more details of these charitable projects on my Uganda Projects and Life in Malawi pages.
